Campuses
Located on the east side of the University of Toronto's downtown campus and spanning almost 10 acres, the St. Michael's College grounds provide a charming neighbourhood to the 550 students who live in our dorms each year. Our residence community consists of both first-year and upper-year students, most of whom are enrolled at SMC in the Faculty of Arts & Science; however, we accept students from the professional faculties who want to be part of our community as well.
Student lifestyle
The University of St. Michael's College is home to 5000 undergraduate students, and over 500 of those students lives on campus in a St. Michael's College or Loretto College residence building. We are committed to creating a safe and secure community in the heart of downtown Toronto, Canada's largest city. St. Mike's is also committed to providing opportunities for its commuter students to be engaged and active in the community.
Athletics
It's no accident that St. Mike's has a storied history of athletics. One of our guiding principles has always been that supporting athletics reflects a commitment to the formation of the whole person, with the physical rigours of the playing field complementing the intellectual rigours of the classroom.
Athletics also serve as a major source of community and school spirit, whether you're involved primarily with an intramural team or with a nationally ranked Varsity Blues squad.
Clubs
From shared hobbies and interests to causes and activism, the more than 20 clubs at St. Michael's that offer the chance for you to make new friends and to develop skills and experience that can lead to future career opportunities.
The St. Michael's community is richer for the variety of student organizations that create community, put on events, and further the extracurricular education of students at the college.
Accommodation
St. Mike's offers a traditional dormitory experience, which means students reside in either single or double rooms, and share washrooms and other common areas with their housemates or floormates. As a general rule, first-year students are expected to have a roommate while upper-year students are assigned to single rooms.
All SMC residents are required to have a meal plan, which provides continuous dining throughout the day and offers unlimited portions ("all you care to eat"). Although our dorms accommodate both men and women, many individual residence 'houses' remain single-sex.
